Randy Bernard (born January 31, 1967) is a former PBR and IndyCar Chief Executive Officer. He is the current CEO of GhostTunes.com LLC, which he co-founded with Garth Brooks. In March 2010, Bernard took over as CEO of IndyCar, succeeding series creator Tony George. He was outspoken from the start about raising the sport’s exposure among broad audiences, extending the calendar to areas that marketers care about, and attaining a 50/50 mix of oval and road course events. He was also in charge of the ICONIC Project, which chose a new engine and chassis for the 2012 season. Chevrolet and manufacturer competitiveness returned to IndyCar as a result of this. In 2011, Bernard pushed the return of Indy cars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, only for the event to be tragically cancelled. In 2012, he was able to negotiate a return to Fontana, and in 2013, he was able to secure a return to Pocono. During Bernard’s tenure, the series dropped the moniker “Indy Racing League” and began using the name “IndyCar” in 2011. Bernard was fired as CEO of IndyCar on October 28, 2012, according to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway board of directors. Bernard was formerly the CEO of the Professional Bull Riders, where he worked from the league’s inception in 1995 until 2010. Bernard also serves on the National FFA Foundation’s board of directors, and in September 2014, he will be inducted into the National Cowboy & Heritage Museum’s Rodeo Hall of Fame.Table of Contents
