William Leasure was married to Betsy Mogul. His wife was also charged with felony perjury because police suspected she was complicit in her husband’s activities. However, in 2021, she was found not guilty of all charges.

He was a long-serving police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department who was well-liked by his coworkers. Leasure was married to Betsy Mogul.

His wife is an Assistant City Attorney, and the two had a very high social position. A year before Leasure’s imprisonment, she ran for City Attorney in an election.

He even had an excellent reputation for never abusing his position of power.

Bill Leasure was charged for a thieving ring that stole and sold boats. He has yet to be released and is currently incarcerated. He was sentenced to two life sentences, each with a minimum of 15 years, based on his plea.

He pleaded not guilty to the accusations against him after his arrest. Even though he had previously been denied prison, records show that the parole board gave him parole in August 2021.

His trial, however, ended in a hung jury, with two of the twelve members voting against a guilty verdict. Despite this, Leasure agreed to a plea bargain and pled no guilty to two counts of felony murder for hire.

Authorities focused their inquiry on a yacht called La Vita, which they suspected was implicated in the crime. Officers were astonished to find William Leasure and others on board when the yacht was seized in Oakland in May 1986.

According to prison records, Leasure is still incarcerated at the Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California, so it appears that this will take some time.
