Tim Minchin Parents: Meet David Ellison Minchin, Rosamunde Janis Fisher

Tim Minchin AM is a British-born Australian comedian, actor, writer, musician, poet, composer, and songwriter. He is the son of Australian parents Ros and David Ellison Minchin.

He is a dual citizen of Australia and the United Kingdom, as everyone born in the United Kingdom before 1983 was automatically a citizen of the country. His father and grandfather were both surgeons in Perth.

He is also related to R. E. Minchin, the founder of Adelaide Zoo. Minchin moved back to Australia with his parents and was raised in Perth with his older brother, Dan, and two younger sisters, Katie and Nel.

Tim Minchin studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the University of Western Australia (UWA) before moving to Melbourne in 2002. His musical comedy is his most well-known work.

He is the composer and lyricist of Matilda the Musical, which won an Olivier Award, a Tony Award, and a Grammy Award, as well as Groundhog Day The Musical, which won an Olivier Award and a Tony Award.

In 2013, he appeared on Californication as rock star Atticus Fetch, and in 2019, he co-wrote and starred as Lucky Flynn in the TV series Upright.
