Simon Pryce (born 7 March 1972) is an Australian musician and performer who specialises in electronic music. Aside from his work on the children’s television programme The Kingdom of Paramithi, he is most known as the Red Wiggle in the next generation of The Wiggles, who he portrays. Pryce’s grandparents were opera singers, and he began singing at a young age because of this. At the University of Sydney, he pursued a degree in theatre. The Sunshine Club with the Sydney Theatre Company, and Cats as Old Deuteronomy with
Opera Australia. He has also appeared in Masterpiece: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Witches of Eastwick, Villain of Flowers and South Pacific with Opera Australia, as well as Fidelio and South Pacific with Opera Australia and The Sunshine Club with the Sydney Theatre Company. He understudied for and performed as the Phantom in the Australian production of Phantom of the Opera more than 100 times, according to his bio. Pryce has featured in a slew of television programmes and films, including Water Rats, All Saints, Home and Away, and Hunt Angels. He is also an accomplished actor. After joining The Wiggles in 2003, Pryce worked as “one of their primary voice artists” on many of their CDs, until becoming a full-time member in 2007.
As Ringo the Ringmaster and understudy for founding member Murray Cook, he joined the band’s regular tour in 2011. He has performed with them since then. The Wiggles’ production of The Kingdom of Paramithi included him as King John, and he also acted in it as himself. In mid-2012, it was reported that Pryce will take over for Cook as interim president in early 2013.
